Support the Crimson Tide while helping out feathered friends in your very own backyard! This University of Alabama team ball hanging habitat will provide birds with much-needed shelter from predators and inclement weather, as well as a place to build a nest and raise babies.
Handcrafted from polystone and painted in team colors, the design is attached to a twine rope for easy hanging.
Install the shelter 5 to 30 feet above the ground in a sunny, open space with shrubs or brush about six feet away for protective cover. Mount the habitat to a free-standing metal pole, PVC pipe, side of a house, fence rail, or tree. Position the house so it is not too far from food sources.
Once breeding season is over, usually by mid-August, it's time to clean out the birdhouse. Remove old nesting material and scrub the house with a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Rinse well and leave it open to dry completely. If you notice birds are having multiple broods per year, clean the box between broods.
